Saudi Princess Pleads Guilty In Domestic Help Case
Hana Al Jader, a Saudi princess, was recently in federal district court in Boston facing charges for domestic servitude and forced labor.
Ms. Jader brought two women from Saudi Arabia to the United States in 2003 to cook and clean for her. She stated on visa applications that she would pay the women around $1,500.00 per month and require them to work no more than eight hours per day, five days per week. Instead, Jader paid the women only $300.00 per month for working long hours seven days per week. She continued to employ the women in this manner for several months, despite the expiration of their visas. Ms. Jader avoided the most serious charges against her by pleading guilty to visa fraud and harboring aliens for personal gain. Ms. Jader may be sentenced to a year in prison and required to forfeit her house, pay a $40,000.00 fine and pay restitution to the servants.
